Aros Castle

Aros Castle, also known as Dounarwyse Castle, is a ruined 13th-century castle near Salen on the Isle of Mull, Scotland. The castle overlooks the Sound of Mull.

Only a couple of walls remain, but the castle is very rustic looking, parts of the castle are completely covered in green foliage.

The castle was a stronghold of the clan McDougall it passed through various clans over the years including Clan Maclean and Clan Donald.

In 1690 it was described as a ruinous old and useless and never of any strength.

There is no evidence of it being occupied since the 18th century.
